A sweet-smelling rendezvous that reminds me of Hawaii

Leonard's Bakery, located on Oahu, Hawaii, is a long-established bakery that has been loved by many since its founding in 1952. Its signature product, malasadas, are deep-fried donuts with Portuguese roots and are now known as one of Hawaii's representative local sweets. When you see this retro neon sign during your trip, a natural sense of excitement rises, thinking, "I'll soon be able to experience that sweet aroma."

In this piece, instead of the entire building, I focused solely on the iconic sign that has been cherished for many years, expressing it with the soft colors unique to watercolors. The vibrant red and yellow signs, standing out against the blue sky, evoke the cheerful spirit of Hawaii and a nostalgic warmth.

Displaying this piece in your room might gently bring back happy memories of time spent in Hawaii during your morning coffee or afternoon break. It's a piece that brings the sweet scent, smiles, and peaceful moments experienced while traveling into your everyday life.

I'm Kai from Aloha Canvas. Kai means "ocean" in Hawaiian.

Hawaii is a second home to me. Over more than 30 trips, I've been drawn not just to the beautiful scenery, but also to the flow of time on the islands, the warmth of the people, and their heart for living in harmony with nature.

What I want to paint isn't just the scenery itself. I pour the entire atmosphere of that moment—the blowing wind, the falling light, the sound of the waves—into each piece.

At the root of my creative process is the spirit of Aloha, which cherishes compassion, gratitude, and harmony with nature. My concept is "Bring Hawaii Home."

How to choose the color of a picture frame

We are often asked, "What color is best for a picture frame?" There are two ways to choose. The first is to choose a frame that matches the picture. Darker pictures should be paired with darker frames, and lighter pictures with lighter frames. A white frame is recommended for cooler colors, and a natural frame for warmer colors. The second is to choose a frame that matches the color of the room. Choose a frame color that matches the color of the floor and furniture. If the room is decorated with white floors and furniture, choose a white frame; if the floors and furniture are natural, choose a natural frame; if the floors and furniture are dark, choose a brown frame; and if the room is monochromatic, choose a black frame.
