My back to the distant blue, the morning I become one with the wind

On a hill overlooking Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore. In the Hawaiian language, this seaside area has long been known as Paumalu. Below, white waves slowly reach the sand, and the leaves of the ironwood trees rustle softly in the sea breeze.

In Paumalu, there is a legend that says, "Those who took more of the ocean's bounty than their share unexpectedly found themselves unable to return." (Legend). The name Paumalu is said to be a combination of "pau" and "malū," imbuing it with the meaning of "suddenly, secretly." (Fact). The richness of the sea, and the reverence with which one approaches it. Both quietly breathe in this land.

What I wanted to capture in that one back shot was not the scenery itself, but the moment of solitude unwound by the wind. Gently placing a hand on the etched spiral, entrusting one's gaze to the distant horizon. There is only a slow breath, needing no words.

Displayed, it should quietly clear the air in the room with a faint blue. Each time your eyes drift to it during the soft hours of sunlight, the sensation of wind stroking your hair and the faint scent of the tide will revive.

Not a sea to merely look at, but a sea to be with. Bring the winds of Paumalu into your everyday life.

Hawaii is a second home to me. Over more than 30 trips, I've been drawn not just to the beautiful scenery, but also to the flow of time on the islands, the warmth of the people, and their heart for living in harmony with nature.

What I want to paint isn't just the scenery itself. I pour the entire atmosphere of that moment—the blowing wind, the falling light, the sound of the waves—into each piece.

How to choose the color of a picture frame

We are often asked, "What color is best for a picture frame?" There are two ways to choose. The first is to choose a frame that matches the picture. Darker pictures should be paired with darker frames, and lighter pictures with lighter frames. A white frame is recommended for cooler colors, and a natural frame for warmer colors. The second is to choose a frame that matches the color of the room. Choose a frame color that matches the color of the floor and furniture.
