In a garden filled with vermilion, two peacocks quietly respond to each other's presence.

I have depicted two peacocks in a garden enveloped in vermilion and gold.

Between the two birds, standing on separate rocks, are a flowing stream and a golden moon. Are they drawing near, or will they remain at this distance? I chose a composition that leaves the answer undecided, allowing their mutual presence to be felt in the silence.

While autumn leaves and flowers fill the frame with brilliance, there is a small space of emptiness between the two birds. I feel that it is in this void that the time of this piece truly resides.

I hope this work will be one that, even amidst its vivid vermilion, leaves behind a sense of quiet stillness the more it is observed.

Koken

I create work centered on the "inner space" where thought, memory, and existence intersect. By using thick, heavy impasto, I construct phenomena such as pressure, collapse, and regeneration on the canvas, simultaneously expressing both stillness and depth.

My work does not aim to depict landscapes or objects, but rather to draw out the "sensation of being" and the "inexpressible void." I aim to create an experience where, while facing the work, viewers can let go of their thoughts and quietly return to themselves.

I hope my art will bring a sense of calm and tranquility to your daily space and remain a long-standing companion.

My hobbies are Shorinji Kempo (405th class) and racquetball.
