A view of the dazzling blue sky and rolls of hay

Naganuma Town is located in the southern part of the Sorachi General Subprefectural Bureau of Hokkaido. It is adjacent to Kitahiroshima City to the east. The town's name is said to come from a long, narrow swamp that was a riverbed lake that existed within the town before development. The indigenous Ainu people called it "Tanne-to" (long, narrow swamp) in the Ainu language.

"Snow Palette Project"
Snow Pallet is a winter land art project centered around Sapporo, a city of 1.9 million people where annual snowfall reaches 6 meters. Snow Pallet is an installation project created to commemorate winter memories. The fluorescent paint on the back of the objects reflects the snow, creating vibrant colors on the surface. The multiple objects, each of which is of a different height, create a different landscape depending on the sunlight and snowfall. The shapes of the accumulated snow vary depending on the installation location, the scenery changes over the four months from the first snowfall to the melting snow, the colors change over the course of a day, and the weather. Since its launch in 2011, snowfall has been decreasing year by year. Furthermore, sudden periods of heavy snowfall or light snowfall, often recorded over several decades, are occurring more frequently and in shorter cycles. These phenomena are likely the result of global warming and extreme weather. Where is the Earth headed as environmental destruction progresses? Can we chart a path to environmental improvement in response to the greatest challenge in human history? It serves as an antithesis to the memory of the beautiful winter scenery of the Snow Palette.
