Kouken

Kouken is a contemporary artist exploring “Thought Space,” where gravity, memory, and existence intersect. Using thick impasto, each work is built through pressure, collapse, and emergence, creating depth and stillness. Rather than depicting scenes, his paintings invite quiet contemplation and a sense of presence. These works are designed to bring calm and refined atmosphere into living spaces. Outside of his artistic practice, Kouken enjoys Shorinji Kempo (405th class) and racquetball.

How to choose the color of a picture frame

We are often asked, "What color is best for a picture frame?" There are two ways to choose. The first is to choose a frame that matches the picture. Darker pictures should be paired with darker frames, and lighter pictures with lighter frames. A white frame is recommended for cooler colors, and a natural frame for warmer colors. The second is to choose a frame that matches the color of the room. Choose a frame color that matches the color of the floor and furniture. If the room is decorated with white floors and furniture, choose a white frame; if the floors and furniture are natural, choose a natural frame; if the floors and furniture are dark, choose a brown frame; and if the room is monochromatic, choose a black frame.
