Mount Fuji Spring Cherry Blossoms Somei Yoshino

Cherry blossoms and Mt. Fuji are symbols of Japan, so they are a landscape that you'll want to photograph. I wanted to take a large picture of the cherry blossoms, and I also wanted to brighten the cherry blossoms, so I used a reflector to add fill light from below.

Lemon Popo

Born in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City in 1948, I have been interested in art since I was young and have worked in a variety of fields, including anime, drawing, woodblock prints, Japanese painting, photography, and stainless steel objects. I have been particularly involved in photography for over 50 years. Previously, my Japanese paintings have been awarded at the Shizuoka Prefectural Art Festival and selected for the Fuji Biennale three times. My photography has been featured on the cover of National Park Monthly magazine, and I have won the first Amaterasu award and been selected for the third, among other awards. Recently, I have been seeking to express the landscapes I encounter in a painterly way, and for the past 10 years or so, I have been photographing the ever-changing expressions of water. Before COVID-19, I held a solo exhibition in Shizuoka featuring around 50 A2-sized pieces, which was well received, and I have been posting them on Instagram, gangtianboji.

How to choose the color of a picture frame

We are often asked, "What color is best for a picture frame?" There are two ways to choose. The first is to choose a frame that matches the picture. Darker pictures should be paired with darker frames, and lighter pictures with lighter frames. A white frame is recommended for cooler colors, and a natural frame for warmer colors. The second is to choose a frame that matches the color of the room. Choose a frame color that matches the color of the floor and furniture. If the room is decorated with white floors and furniture, choose a white frame; if the floors and furniture are natural, choose a natural frame; if the floors and furniture are dark, choose a brown frame; and if the room is monochromatic, choose a black frame.
