glow

This is my favorite secret base. I've been there countless times. I don't think anyone has stopped here yet. I parked my car in the free parking lot by the lake and walked for about 40 minutes to arrive. Basking in the sun and the breeze gliding across the lake, I smoke a cigarette while sipping a warm cup of coffee. <I always carry a portable ashtray with me> This is the moment my heart melts into the wind.
I set up the tripod and put the camera on it. First, I look through the viewfinder. Now, how do I capture the scene in front of me? I always have trouble deciding, but today I decided to capture an angle where I could see the wind. I press the shutter while basking in the light.

Ken Segawa

Born in Hansaka, Inawashiro Town, Fukushima Prefecture, in 1947. A young skier, he won the giant slalom at the Fukushima Prefecture Junior High School Championships in alpine skiing. However, due to his parents' work, he moved to snowless Ibaraki Prefecture, where he gave up skiing. At university, he was persuaded to join the ski club. He competed in the All-Japan Student Championships and the National Athletic Meet, but after a long break, he truly gave up. A life in the making came to an end. He took up photography at the urging of his boarding house owner. He learned how to develop and print black-and-white film, taking photos of natural landscapes around town. After graduating from university, he worked as a contract employee in the advertising department of a major department store. While he mostly worked in studios, he wasn't interested in commercial photography. He later worked in production for theater companies, as a driver for a costume company, and as a costume photographer. After that, he did a lot of different things, but he's still alive today. My current photography focuses on the theme of "wind," and I run around the fields and mountains trying to capture the wind in between physical labor.
