Beyond this bridge, unfamiliar scenery and a new time await.

A small, lush green village bathed in sunlight.

A crystal-clear stream flows gently beneath an old stone bridge.

The water is so clear you can see the stones on the riverbed, with sunlight filtering through the trees and white flowers blooming along the banks.

Beyond the bridge, stone houses and a church steeple come into view, with blue mountains stretching out into the distance.

A small bird sits on the stone wall in the foreground.

It looks as if it is quietly watching over anyone who might cross the bridge.

Sometimes, heading toward an unknown place requires a little bit of courage.

Yet, the step you take might lead to scenery you have never encountered before.

Cross this bridge, and find a new view.

This piece is part of Kouken’s landscape art series, "The Quiet Invitation."

Through the small bird living within the landscape, this work captures a scene that invites the viewer to step into that world and encounter a new moment in time.

Koken

My work explores the "inner space" where thought, memory, and existence intersect. Using heavy impasto, I construct phenomena such as pressure, collapse, and regeneration on the canvas, simultaneously expressing both stillness and depth.

Rather than depicting landscapes or specific objects, my work aims to evoke a "sense of being" and the "ineffable spaces" that lie beyond words.

My goal is to create an experience where the viewer can let go of their thoughts while facing the work, quietly returning to themselves.

I hope my art will serve as a lasting presence in your daily life, bringing a sense of calm and a serene atmosphere to your space.

My hobbies include Shorinji Kempo (405th class) and racquetball.
